Insects and Spiders

  I the insect itches /i/ /i/ /i/.

 Sophia helped make an i with her body.  Emily was the dot.

 We took turns helping draw this insect.  We learned that all insects have 3 body parts, 6 legs, and 2 antennae.  Spiders are not insects.  They have 2 body parts and 8 legs.

We found insects (thank goodness they were pretend) around the classroom.  We identified the letter on the back and wrote the upper or lowercase letter that matched.

 We celebrated Gavin's birthday.  Happy Birthday!

 Anniston explored plastic insects at the free play center.

 

 We worked on writing a the language arts center.

 After putting these number cards in order, Ava used a bug swatter to slap the number called out by the teacher.

Brendan made an "I the insect" craft. 

Sophia traced wavy and straight lines. 

Using inch worm connecting cubes, Porter measured the length of a block. 

 Chloe put these inch worms in order from longest to shortest.

 We reviewed letter names and sounds with Miss Brieann, and also learned about opposites.

 Chloe brought insects, and icy popsicles for show-and-tell.

 Gavin showed his "ice" game.

 Emily brought toy insects.

 

 Ian used scissors to make grass.

 Madison is getting good at writing i's!

We used party blowers with velcro on the end to catch insects.

 The preschoolers rolled up their sleeves and got busy painting part of a Thanksgiving craft.  More to come next week!

Just a couple of items...

*Look for some pages in your child's folder that lists books and fun activities for strengthening phonemic awareness, and knowledge of the alphabet.

*If your child is here before preschool and has time to run around, would you please bring a water bottle for him/her to get a drink before coming in?  There seems to be a domino effect when children come in needing a drink of water and it can distract from our morning routine.  Thanks!
