X-Rays and Doctors

We had an exciting week learning about the letter X!

 Miss Liz showed us some x-rays while we learned the sound X the Fox makes while taking x-rays.

 Chloe made an x with her body.

 Ava showed us how she can make an x with just her fingers.

 We played tic-tac-toe.  After reading a word with x in it (or identifying the letters), preschoolers added an x to the game.

 Preschoolers learned about combining groups of objects (addition) at the math center.

 We especially enjoyed playing doctor at the free play center.

 Abby used letter tiles to make "ug" words.

 Porter used a push pin to poke holes along the letter X.

 Emily laced a xylophone card.

 We played "X Marks the Spot."  Ian used a map to help him find a letter X hidden in the classroom.

Ava and Anniston counted and combined groups of beads on a pipe cleaner.

For show-and-tell Gavin brought a tool box made by his grandpa, who is a builder.

Emily wants to be a doctor when she grows up.  She brought a foot brace and demonstrated how to use it.

We had some extra special guests visit us.

 Ian's dad, a physical therapist, taught us about his job and how to strengthen our muscles and bodies.  He brought along his skeleton, Slim.

  Brendan's mom, Julie, taught us about her job as an ultrasound tech.  The preschoolers especially enjoyed feeling the ultrasound gel.

We also had a visit from Anniston's dad who is a physicians assistant.  He showed us how he checks patient's eyes, ears, nose, and mouth.  Each preschooler had a chance to listen to their heart beat with a stethoscope.

We appreciate each of them taking time to visit us and help us learn more about their jobs!  It was the highlight of our week!
