Zoo Animals

This week we learned about zoo animals and the letter Z.  The children below made a zig zag letter Z with their bodies.

 Emily practiced writing a Z on the whiteboard.

 We played zoo animal charades.  Brendan was an alligator.

Chloe was a flamingo standing on one foot.

 Ava made an animal with tangram shapes.

 At the Language Arts center, these girls played alphabet dominoes.

 At the construction and free play center, preschoolers enjoyed playing with stuffed zoo animals.

 Brendan sorted zoo animal erasers onto the matching animal plate.

 Anniston fed zoo animals by putting pom poms through the mouths on these paper plate animals.

 Sophia correctly identified beginning sounds on animal picture cards.

 

 Preschoolers learned about size this week.  They cut out elephant shapes and glued them in size order.

 Preschoolers especially enjoyed playing with zoo animals in the sensory tables.  One contained land animals, while the other had ocean animals.

 We sang Happy Birthday to Anniston.  We hope she has a good one tomorrow!

For show-and-tell Abby brought stuffed animals that might be found in the zoo.

Sophia brought a Zebra!

Ian showed us zoo animal figures.

Porter brought a textured photo that went along with the sense of touch we learned about last week.

We had a lot of fun pretending to be the animals in Eric Carle's book, From Head to Toe.  Here the preschoolers are wiggling their hips like an alligator.

Today we also took turns reading words with the letter z.  Madison sounded out and read the word "zop."
