Today we learned the sound letter Y makes. The preschoolers are yelling "/y/ /y/ /y/" like Y the Yak.
Mac made a letter Y with his body by standing up straight and extending his arms.
Ava wrote a letter Y on her hand. We also wrote Y's with our finger on a friend's back and with a pencil in our notebooks. Yay for letter Y practice!
Miss Liz read a book about our 5 Senses.
We used our sense of hearing to listen to the sound made when Miss Liz shook objects in film canisters. Preschoolers were able to match the sound from one canister to another that contained the same object.
Aidan used his sense of smell and taste to identify peanut butter. Yum!
Sophia and Aubrey smelled and tasted a pickle.
During center time, Amber worked in a small group to count the correct number of yarn balls for a cat to play with.
Ava and Sophia worked on a puzzle.
Solia created a yellow crayon rubbing of the letter Y and words that begin with it.
This center group also put the numbers to 10 in sequence.
Emily used her cutting, hole punching, and coloring skills to make a yo-yo for Y the Yak.
We enjoyed using our sense of sight, smell, touch, and taste as we ate strawberries and bananas for snack.
Preschoolers enjoyed using glue and yarn to make an outline of numerals 1 to 6.
We also worked cooperatively to sort boxes of fun objects such as seashells, buttons, colored triangles, square tiles, and nuts and bolts.
Each child brought home a rose to explore with their senses!
This Thursday we will be walking to the grass park for an hour to practice our upcoming program and participate in a few activities. Please put sunblock on your child that morning and send them with a hat if you'd like. Pick-up will be at Miss Liz's home as usual. Thanks!
