We just completed a week all about the letter A!
After an introduction to the letter A on Tuesday, we enjoyed marching and singing to "The Ants Go Marching."
During centers Abby counted pom pom apples and put them on her tree mat.
Gavin liked cutting scraps of paper into bits. What a good use for junk mail! Give your child some practice with this at home.
Ian explored our magnetic foam letters.
Brendan worked on these simple word puzzles.
Miss Liz worked with kids in small groups. This group matched upper and lower case letters and practiced reading "at" words.
Brendan and Porter made an apple craft. Hang these in the window to see the sun shine through!
Miss Liz read the book, "Ten Apples Up On Top." Then the children drew themselves and glued ten apples on their heads.
Aloha means hello in Hawaiian. For show-and-tell Solia showed some postcards from her recent trip.
We listened to a story and silly song about the book, "When the Alligator Came to Class." We also took turns finding capital and lowercase A's in the text. You can pull out a book at home and have your child go on a letter A hunt. If you use a magazine, they can even highlight them with a marker.
We are working on blending sounds to read "at words." The 4-year-old preschoolers should be working on this at home during September.
Madison and Anniston worked together to build this amazingly tall tower with legos!
We sampled 3 different varieties of apples for snack today.
The class favorite was Gala.
Ava practiced her counting by stringing 10 apple jacks cereal pieces.

And finally, we used play dough to build letters. Emily made a P.
Chloe pressed play dough onto this mat to make a "C."
Please help your child read the book that was sent home with them today, and complete the letter A handwriting page if they haven't already.
We are looking forward to a "Beary" fun time next week. Your child may bring a stufffed bear in their backpack on Tuesday!
